Top 5 moments from MTV Video Music Awards 2019!

The stage was set as the biggest names from the world of music came together to celebrate the best in the music video medium on Monday! From Queen Latifah to Taylor Swift and Jonas Brothers to Lil Nas X, it was a star-studded evening. The event, as usual, had many highlights which are sure going to be talked about for years to come. For now, here’s our round up of the top 5 MTV VMAs 2019’s best moments:

  1. Shawn Mendes – Camilla Cabello’s performance

Shawn and Camilla burnt the stage with their sizzling performance on the chartbuster ‘Senorita’! Their crackling chemistry was too hot to handle and they had the entire audience rooting for them to kiss, but to everyone’s disappointment they didn’t! What’s been trending though is Nick Jonas, Sophie Turner, Joe Jonas and Taylor Swift’s reaction to their performance! They were literally us, screaming and cheering. Joe Jonas’ hilarious tweet is proof

  1. Miley Cyrus’ emotional performance

Miley Cyrus made her first public appearance post split with Liam Hemsworth at the awards. The pop star performed on her new break-up single, ‘Slide Away’, for the first time at the event. She also showed off her new tattoo which reads ‘My head was feeling scared, but my heart was feeling free’, a line from the Pixie’s song ‘The Thing’.

  1. The Jonas Brothers win big!

The Jonas Brothers returned to the VMAs stage after 11 years and took home the Best Pop Video award for their comeback song ‘Sucker’! However the most hilarious moment was when the award was announced, Joe and Kevin kissed their respective wives Sophie and Daniella whereas Nick looked awkwardly sandwiched between the PDA with no one to kiss. His wife Priyanka Chopra had not accompanied him and he sure seemed to miss her. The picture of him fifth wheeling is definitely going to be meme-d for a long time now.

  1. Fab red carpet appearances

This year, the red carpet appearances were taken a notch higher by many male celebs who sashayed in gender fluid clothes with some even sporting heels. Simply stunning!

  1. Sophie and Joe cheering for Taylor

Letting bygones be bygones, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas gave his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift a standing ovation. There’s been a lot of water under that bridge and many songs sung, but the moment Taylor’s name was announced for the Video of the Year award, the duo stood up and cheered her on. Sweet!
