After announcing retirement, Nicki Minaj admits her tweet was abrupt and insensitive

On Thursday, rapper Nicki Minaj shocked fans by announcing her retirement from music. The 36 year old artist wrote, “I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, x in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. Love you for LIFE.”

In no time, Minaj’s tweet had gone viral on social media with many fans expressing their disappointment. The much acclaimed artist sounded rather hurt and angry in her tweet with many failing to understand the trigger behind her decision. Minaj, however, deleted the tweet hours after posting it!

Later while replying to one of her fans, she admitted her announcement was rather abrupt and insensitive. She tweeted, “I’m still right here. Still madly in love with you guys & you know that. In hindsight, this should’ve been a Queen Radio discussion & it will be. I promise u guys will be happy. No guests, just us talking about everything. The tweet was abrupt & insensitive, I apologize babe.”

While its still unclear what made Minaj announce her retirement or delete her tweet. No one’s sure if she intends to go ahead with her retirement plans but many believe her feud with Grammy winning rapper Cardi B has something to do with it. It’s being widely speculated that Cardi B’s rising popularity in a genre that Minaj ruled for several years and her recent tracks receiving subpar response forced her to make the announcement.

Guess, we will have to wait and watch!
