SRKians go crazy as US President Donald Trump mentions DDLJ in his speech
Looks like Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is a favourite in the White House. US President Donald Trump is currently on his maiden visit to India along with First Lady Melania Trump, daughter Ivanka Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner, along with several top officials. After a warm welcome by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a quick visit to Sabarmati Ashram, Trump addressed the public and got the crowd cheering with his speech. Donald Trump, in his speech at the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad, mentioned the impact that Bollywood films have all over the world and the joy cult classics like DDLJ and Solay bring to people’s lives.
“This is the country that produces 2000 movies a year from the hub of genius and creativity known as Bollywood. All over the planet, people take great joy in scenes of bhangra, music, dance, romance and drama and classic Indian films like DDLJ and ‘Sholay’,”Said Trump in his speech as he thanked people for the welcome and praised PM Modi for his leadership and calibre. Well, as soon as Trump took these Bollywood films’ names, the crowd was left chuckling and started whistling and hooting.
Producers of the iconic film DDLJ, Yash Raj Films, too celebrated the mention with a quirky tweet.
DDLJ trumps!

Shah Rukh Khan’s fans too went crazy and shared clips on Twitter of both Trump and Obama quoting DDLJ and stating SRK is known as the King Khan for a reason.

Besides praising Bollywood, Donald Trump also acknowledged some great Indian cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. He added, “This is the country where your people cheer on the biggest cricketers, from Sachin Tendulkar to Virat Kohli, the greatest in the world.”
This is not the first time that SRK’s classic film has found a mention in the speech of any US President. Interestingly back in 2015, when former US President Barack Obama was in India, he too left everyone surprised when he mentioned SRK’s DDLJ dialogue. In broken Hindi, he quoted the iconic dialogue from the film and said, “Senorita, bade bade desho mein… you know what I mean.”
They called it is a overrated movie but this movie is the most famous Bollywood movie in overseas #DDLJ pic.twitter.com/cYgbY7ENrL
