In an old interview with DNA, Sanjay had opened up about Shanaya’s debut. He had clarified that while she’s too young to make a full-fledged debut, she is “working towards it”. He was quoted as saying, “Honestly, I really don’t know when that will happen. She has just finished her 12th standard and she’s working towards it. But she hasn’t signed anything till now; she’s too young. Hopefully, soon enough.”

Shanaya is often spotted with BFF’s Suhana Khan and Ananya Panday. The latter will make her Bollywood debut in Student of the Year 2, and Suhana Khan, daughter of Shah Rukh Khan, who has long been expected to make her Bollywood debut but SRK has made it clear Suhana won’t set foot in the industry before she completes her education.

For those unaware, her cousins, Sonam Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor and Harshvardhan Kapoor also started their journey as an assistant director. Sonam assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Black, Arjun assisted Nikhil Advani on Kal Ho Naa Ho and Salaam-e-Ishqa, while Harshvardhan assisted Anurag Kashyap on Bombay Velvet, before making their respective Bollywood debuts.
