Shahid Kapoor regrets not being part of Rang De Basanti!
Over the last few years, Shahid Kapoor has become a recluse of sorts, keeping himself busy with his family, only making appearances when his movies are about to release. He also seldom opens up in interviews and hence it came as a surprise when he candidly spoke about his professional regrets.
The talented actor, who is currently busy going about town promoting his upcoming movie, Kabir Singh, recently let his guard down when he appeared on Neha Dhupia’s chat show, BFFs with Vogue. Shahid disclosed that he was originally offered Siddharth’s role in Rakesh Omprakash Mehra’s blockbuster film Rang De Basanti but had to let it go due to his other commitments. He said, “I regret not doing the film. They wanted me to play the role of Siddharth. I’d cried while reading the script and loved it, but unfortunately couldn’t make time for it.”
This is quite a revelation as it would have been amazing to see Shahid share screen space with powerhouse performers like Aamir Khan and R. Madhavan. The movie which released in 2006 has a cult fan following even today.
He also confessed that he wished he had not done Shaandaar directed by Vikas Bahl. He stated, “Even I was confused when I saw the film.”
On the work front, the promos and songs of Kabir Singh have been received very well. Fans are going gaga over Shahid’s alcoholic self-destructive avatar. The movie, which is a Hindi remake of South hit Arjun Reddy, also stars Kiara Advani and is set to hit theatres on 21st June.
