Janhvi Kapoor shines in the first look of Gunjan Saxena biopic!
The first look of Dharma Production’s upcoming biographical drama based on the life of India’s first female IAF officer is out. The movie titled Gunjan Saxena – The Kargil Girl will see Gen Y star Janhvi Kapoor essay the titular role. Directed by Sharan Sharma, the film also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Angad Bedi, Vineet Kumar and Manav Vij in key roles.
Unveiling the first look, producer Karan Johar shared three posters which showcases different facets of Gunjan’s life. In the first one Janhvi, looking adorably innocent, is seen flying a paper plane. He wrote, “She was told ki ladkiyan pilot nahin banti…but she stood her ground and wanted to fly!”

In the second poster, Janhvi is seen in the uniform of the army pilot amidst an all male crew. Posting the picture, Karan shared. “With unabashed courage & bravery, she made her domain in a man’s world.”
Karan captioned the third poster as, “Her pillar of strength – her father. He gave her the wings to fly!” She is seen hugging her father played by the talented Tripathi.
For the unknown, Gunjan Saxena was the first Indian Air Force woman officer who went to war. She showcased immense courage during the Kargil war in 1999 when, as a flying officer, she flew a Cheetah aircraft into the combat zone and rescued several soldiers. Recipient of the Shaurya Vir Award for her valor, she became popularly known as the ‘Kargil Girl’.
The Gunjan Saxena biopic is slated to hit theatres on 13th March 2020.
