Akshay asked the PM about his much-spoken wardrobe choices, which has been targeted many a times by the opposition party. Speaking about it Modi shared, “Since the time I was very young, I would wash my clothes on my own. I had a jhola and carried most of my belongings in it. Long-sleeved kurtas were a hassle because they took up more space and they were more difficult to wash, so I would cut the sleeves.” He further added, “I sometimes used to feel inferior because I was poor. So I would dress up properly. I would put hot coal in a lota to iron my clothes with it.”
When Akshay quizzed him about what would he wish for if he had Aladdin’s lamp. To which the Prime Minister replied, “If I had Aladdin’s lamp, I’d tell the genie to instruct social scientists and educationists to stop filling the heads of future generations with tales of lamps and genies. Let them teach the children and the people to work hard for what they earn.”
Modi also gave an insight into his equation with the opposition party, his meetings with Barack Obama, his take on memes and his post-retirement plans amongst other things.
