#BoycottFilmfare trends on Twitter after Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy gets maximum awards, Ananya Panday wins Best Debut
The biggest award function of Bollywood ‘Filmfare Awards’ concluded on Saturday in Guwahati, Assam with Gully Boy dominating the awards night by winning 13 awards in different categories. Gully Boy thereby set a new record for being the only movie to win the most number of awards in a single year beating Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukerji starrer Black’s previous record of 11. While the makers, cast and the fans of the film celebrated the big victory, a certain section of netizens were left unimpressed with the hype around the film. Not just this they even questioned Ananya Pandey’s win for best debut female.
Slamming Filmfare for their biased selection and neglecting better performances, ‘#BoycottFilmfare’ and ‘#BoycottFilmfareAwards’ has been trended furiously since Saturday night by people on Twitter.
Starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, the epic journey of a slum boy aspiring to be a rapper was good but the hype around it was way too much. As per the netizens Kesari’s Teri Mitti deserved the black lady instead of Gully Boy’s Apna Time Ayega in best lyricist category whereas Shahid Kapoor or Hrithik Roshan should have gotten the Best Actor Award.
A lot of them also stated that Kangana Ranaut’s performance in Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi and Judgementall Hai Kya, Rani Mukerji in Mardaani 2 or Priyanka Chopra in The Sky Is Pink were way better than that of Alia Bhatt in Gully Boy who was there only for half time in the movie. For Best Debut Female netizens believe Pranutan Bahl or Tara Sutaria was more deserving as compared to Ananya Panday.

Alia bhatt given best actress when she didn’t have even half of the screen time in the entire movie is a big disservice to all the nominees, especially PRIYANKA, KANGANA and RANI who were the most deserving. DISGRACE!

Filmfare award lost its credibility long back, when Karan Johar, yash Chopra, Shahrukh Khan, Farah Khan & Farhan Akhtar etc start interfering….. Filmfare is having only one agenda… if u perform on stage at award night or host u will take a trophy. pic.twitter.com/QsTSXcbFQo

Yesterday, ‘Gully boy’ won 13 awards in Filmfare, though Shahrukh Khan didn’t win any award for his performance in ‘Fan’. Yeah maybe ‘Gully boy’ is a good movie it deserves a 2 or 3 awards not 13 !!!
this not Filmfare, it’s Filmfake…#BoycottFilmFare pic.twitter.com/0HvMuZWXkp
