Anushka Sharma breaks her silence on Farokh Engineer’s claims of selectors serving her cups of tea
Anushka Sharma has time and again found herself under fire and has been blamed for Indian cricket team and her husband Virat’s performance. This time, the actor has opened up on the reports that claimed she has been receiving ‘preferential treatment’ by the Indian cricket team management while on tour with husband Virat Kohli. Former Indian wicket-keeper Farokh Engineer had allegedly accused that he saw team India’s selectors ‘getting her (Anushka Sharma) cups of tea’ during a 2019 World Cup match in England this year. He even went on terming the committee of selectors as ‘Mickey Mouse selection committee’, having no appropriate qualification for the job.
As quoted by Times of India, Engineer said, “I didn’t even know one of the selectors during the World Cup and I asked him who the hell he was, because he was wearing the India blazer and he said he was one of the selectors. All they were doing was getting Anushka Sharma (Kohli’s wife) cups of tea.”
Anushka Sharma who does not generally retaliate to such reports took to Instagram to share a lengthy note and highlighted all the times her name has been dragged in baseless reports that involve Indian cricket and her husband, India’s captain Virat Kohli.

As soon as Anushka shared the post, nitizens and many of her friends from the film fraternity praised her for raising a voice. Ranveer Singh, Sonam Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Arjun Kapoor amongst others lauded the actress.
However, soon after Anushka’s statement went viral, Farokh Engineer apologised to her stating that he just said it in a jest and it’s being made a mountain out of a molehill. He had no intension to drag her into the matter. He also praised the actress and called her ‘a lovely girl’ while calling Virat Kohli is a brilliant captain and coach Ravi Shastri is extremely good.
